Join our Non-Fiction Book Group, meeting on Zoom on the third Wednesday of every month from 6:00–7:30 PM. Each month we explore a new nonfiction title from a different area of the Dewey Decimal System. Register for this monthly group to receive the zoom link.

This month we are reading a book from the 400s. The 400s in the Dewey Decimal System focus on language. This section includes linguistics, dictionaries, and language learning.

This month's book is a history of the English language written in a non-technical manner for a general audience. Bryson begins with language's Neanderthal origins and goes on the describe the key people and events that have shaped English into its modern form and character. This group is facilitated by Library Director Cindy Grove. With over 11 years of experience working at the Rockport Public Library and 22 years as a librarian. Growing up, she cherished her city’s bookmobile and is dedicated to the transformative power of libraries. While she enjoys reading a wide range of genres, her favorite is micro-histories, which delve into the impact of a single item on the world. In her free time, Cindy loves cozying up with her two cats, Ms. Sophie Ann and Gabby. An extrovert at heart, she finds fulfillment in volunteering and supporting various human and animal rights causes.
