Using the Magellan Telescope in Chile and the Large Binocular Telescope in Arizona, astronomers have captured a striking new view of a planet!  Join us with PhD student, Joshua Liberman to learn more about this massive new planet and how they discovered it.

Drawing on his experiences as a researcher at the Keck and Magellan telescopes, Josh will describe how astronomers use cutting-edge instruments to view distant planets.

About Joshua Liberman: Joshua Liberman is a third-year PhD student at the University of Arizona's Wyant College of Optical Sciences. His research involves developing planet detection instruments for current and future ground- and space-based telescopes, including the Magellan-Clay Telescope, the Giant Magellan Telescope, and NASA's Habitable Worlds Observatory. A Reading, Massachusetts native, Liberman received a Bachelor's degree in astrophysics from Colgate University in 2022.
