VIRTUAL: Andrew Carnegie & the Carnegie Libraries

Tuesday, September 127:00—8:00 PMZoomRockport Public Library17 School Street, Rockport, MA, 01966

The topic is a combination of Carnegie and the steel industry + the philanthropy and library project. Presenter Rick Feingold will cover both the Homestead and Braddock libraries in Pittsburgh.

Carnegie gets an "A" for his philanthropy. The Carnegie Foundation is still an active and well funded organization today. The record as an employer is quite mixed. Working conditions were harsh in the steel industry. There are those who question whether the amassing of wealth was worth the price to fund the libraries.

Presented is hosted by the Bigelow Free Library, Clinton and is in collaboration with the following libraries: Groton Public, Longmeadow Storrs Public, Marlborough Public.
