Sheryl Faye Presents: Laura Ingalls Wilder, the Writer of the Frontier

Saturday, June 12:00—3:00 PMBrenner RoomRockport Public Library17 School Street, Rockport, MA, 01966

A writer role model, Laura Ingalls Wilder's words bring to life the pioneer times in which she grew up.  Portrayed by Sheryl Faye, this has become a popular show for children and adults.  Especially to those who grew up reading Little House on the Prairie.  Laura became a writer in her forties, proving it is never too late to pursue your dreams.

"The real things haven't changed. It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures; and have courage when things go wrong." ~Laura Ingalls Wilder

Learn about her encounters with neighboring Indians, her first experiences in school, the brutal winters which almost broke her family, and the joy Laura found in the simple things in life: love and duty, work and rest, and living close to nature.  Sheryl also portrays the development of Laura as a writer, beginning with simple storytelling, to Laura creating pictures for her blind sister, Mary, and to the development of her “Little House” books at the encouragement of her daughter, Rose. Sheryl will also share Laura's simple writing terms and techniques to reinforce the way writing is taught in schools.  You may leave feeling inspired to write your own special story.

Sheryl Faye is a woman who has always dreamed of being an actor.  Sheryl attended Emerson College in Boston and graduated in 1996 with a BFA in Acting.  And today, she is a full time Actor!  Sheryl currently stars in eleven one-woman shows that tour throughout the country, performing for a variety of organizations for children and adults.  She has gratefully been the recipient of many awards for both stage and film.

We are very excited to have Sheryl perform live for our patrons here at Rockport Public Library!
