Who are they?
Jersey natives Frank Gallo & Andrew Tuzhilin created Rolie Polie Guacamole in 2006 while living in Brooklyn, NY. Over the next 15 years, they played thousands of shows, recorded eleven records.
Why are we SO excited to have them perform here?
Winner of the prestigious Parents’ Choice® and NAPPA Awards, Rolie Polie Guacamole has developed a smart, parent-friendly musical style that dresses up original tunes and classic covers with vibrant harmonies and deft instrumental layers, plugging in a sizzling electric current of rhythm that lights up lyrics humming with relevance and humor.
Wrote Trevor Gage of Boston’s WERS-FM, “When you think of kids’ music, what do you see? Freddy Spaghetti? A jaded hipster in a colorful costume alluding to some bizarre form of Brazilian anime? Rolie Polie Guacamole skips stones over those clichés and splashes onto the scene with a technically savvy and imaginative sound that speaks to children and reminds their parents of the golden age of 1990s music”.
Their 7th album Avocado came out just in time for the pandemic shutdown and was a hit among fans stuck in their homes with young ones. As the pandemic subsided the band released over 60 new songs between October 2022 - November 2023 which became four new albums. The records feature producer Dean Jones (vocals, synth, drums, trombone and more) Rossen Nedelchev (drums) Katie Mullins (vocals) Jane Scarpantoni (cello).
On January 19, 2024 Recess Therapy released a video called "How to make a #1 hit song in a day" where Julian Shapiro-Barnum asks Ike to list his three favorite artists. Ike responds "Rolie Polie Guacamole, Tom Petty, & The Beatles." It instantly went viral with over 40 million views across Tik Tok & Instagram. The band then cowrote the rest of Ike's song “Yum Yum Yum I Love A Tasty Dinner” and recorded it along with “Library Ghost” which was released as a B-side. The songs will appear on the bands upcoming 12th album “On the Stoop” due out in early 2025.
Bring the whole family and come dance and sing along with us and Rolie Polie!
