Citizen Petitioner

The Rockport Civic League and the League of Women Voters of Cape Ann invite you to the first Citizen Petition Forum. Both sponsoring organizations appreciate your interest in the democratic process of local government.

The Forum is on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 10:30 to 12:30 in person at the Rockport Public Library in the Brenner Room and on Zoom.

Each Petitioner will have up to 10 minutes to present their petition. After each presentation, audience members with an alternative viewpoint toward your petition will have up to 10 minutes to present. The remaining time is for questions and answers from the audience both in person and on Zoom.

The Rockport Civic League provides a Host for both in person and on Zoom.

The League of Women Voters of Cape Ann provides a Moderator who does not live in Rockport. The Moderator will keep the time for each response and give an unbiased treatment toward all participants.

The Forum is to present Citizen Petitions before the April 6th Town Meeting. The purpose is to increase awareness and increase participation at Town Meetings.

Please answer us by March 11 if you plan to attend. Your prompt response allows us plenty of time to advertise. We look forward to your acceptance.
