A Passage to India is EM Forster's most successful work – “his magnum opus,” published June 1924. Listed #48 on The Guardian’s 100 best novels of the 20th century. When published, NYT wrote “E. M. Forster is indubitably one of the finest novelists living in England today, and A Passage to India is one of the saddest, keenest, most beautifully written ironic novels of the time.”
