CANCELED - Eel Monitoring in Rockport and Beyond

Saturday, August 303:00—4:00 PMBrenner RoomRockport Public Library17 School Street, Rockport, MA, 01966

Have you ever wondered about the baby eels into Rockport’s Mill Pond?  Did you know that nearly 900 eels were counted as they entered the pond in 2024?  Join us for an interesting presentation about the wonderous ways these baby eels instinctively make their way up the Mill Brook eel ladder and into the pond to live and grow into adults.  Eel monitoring volunteer, Adam Clark will share tales of how these migratory fish survive thousands of miles of travel through the ocean year after year.

The count was at 235 at the time of this posting in mid-July with the highest count in one day being 23 eels on July 17th.  Adam will share about his personal experience counting the baby eels during the years he has supported the April 1 - October 15 annual run.

About Adam: Adam Clark is a naturalist, biologist, and overall fascinating guy who is interested in all-things-nature and sustainability.
