Join Samantha from Gypsy Soul Work as she brings her mid-west creativity to the Rockport Public Library this August! Release your energy with our Balloon Dart Painting experience in the garden. Every balloon is filled with paint and you, along with other adults and families from the community get to create a masterpiece together by popping each balloon. Whether we are a group of 3, 43, or 83-year-olds, we will throw some darts, create some art, and you may leave feeling a bit lighter. Each person will get to take home their own print and the final board will be on display in the library for the community to enjoy.
A Gypsy Soul: One who lives through the movement of their energy and finds the pulse in nature.
A perfectionist by nature, there came a point in Samantha's life when she realized she needed to learn how to let go, if only for a few minutes of each day. In the late nights when her brain was still active, Sam began exploring with paint and it began to help settle her inner world. Yet, she didn't want to pick up a paint brush. She knew if she did, tradition would set in. Sam wanted to explore alternative tools, and started with the items in her home. One night she picked up a water gun with curiosity. As she pulled the plastic trigger, a forest green color splattered across the paper and she giggled with delight. In that instant she knew she wanted to help bring that feeling to others. Thus, Gypsy Soul Work was born.
Based in Kansas City, Missouri, Gypsy Soul Work hosts painting experiences all over the country that allows individuals to thrive purely on their own expression of creativity in a playful way. With the use of music, gestures, and alternative tools people are able to feel through their painting experience, releasing what is inside and leaving it on the canvas.
About Samantha Ridgway: Sam wants to breakup the standard way we are taught to paint. With a strong belief that we all have creativity within us, Sam believes that creativity is necessary for the body, mind and soul of a human being. Expression of creativity should be open to each individual without boundaries, rules or expectations.
